What is it?
Xianyu is like Olx or Vinted. Private sellers and intermediaries mainly sell there, offering lots of used and new items. The prices are much lower than in Poland because production takes place locally, eliminating the costs of long-distance shipping and import tariffs.
How to get started?
The app is only available on the Chinese App Store or as an APK for Android. Many people change their region to China just for downloading it. You create an account using your Taobao phone number and log in through that; otherwise, it won’t work.
How to search?
Enter the brand or model, preferably with the Chinese term at the end. You can also search by photo and use filters. Check the size in the description or title—it’s often just a letter among other symbols.
How to choose a seller?
Go to their profile (use a translator) and check their level, experience, reviews, and number of sales. A minimum level of L3 is required; ideally, they should have 2 years of experience and 90% positive reviews. It’s also worth looking at photos from other users—this increases your chances of success by 95%.
How to buy through an agent?
Click on the listing, go to the three dots in the top right corner, and copy the link. Paste it into the agent’s site just like a regular Taobao link, fill out the manual order form, upload the photos from the listing, and copy the description.
What should you watch out for?
Most sellers only accept returns within 5 days, so think carefully before buying. Buy only from sellers who provide real photos, not stock images. Many sellers charge a shipping fee to their warehouse, usually 8 to 12 yuan, but it can even reach 40, so make sure you have enough money in your account. If you’re unsure, ask your agent to contact the seller for more photos or additional information.
